We pay a lot of attention to select and train our staff. Every staff member knows what we at Boundless Ethiopia Tours find important about traveling in Ethiopia. Above all, they consider you as their personal friend and will go that extra mile to make your visit even more unforgettable.

Driver/ guides

Our well-experienced and careful driver/guides know Ethiopia at the back of their hand and speak reasonable English. They are great company, know all the ins and outs of the tour, and are a good source of any kind of information you might need, but are not qualified guides. Wherever you go they make sure you end up with knowledgeable local guides at each destination.

Guides

We have a team of professional guides available that can accompany you throughout your tour in Ethiopia. A guide adds valuable information to your trip and is able to give ample details about Ethiopia and its fascinating history, culture, and nature. As the tour leader, they make sure your tour will run smoothly. English, German, Spanish, Italian, and French-speaking guides are available. Other languages are on request. Whenever necessary we provide specialized guides, be it for birding, archaeology, or geology to name a few disciplines.

It is a personal choice whether you take a professional guide along on your tour or not. Are you an experienced, seasoned traveler who likes to find your own way or do you prefer to have some extra assistance when needed. Ethiopia is an emerging tourist destination and things do not go as planned sometimes. For many Ethiopia is a challenging country to travel independently. The language barrier surely adds to this. Taking a professional guide along might give you more peace of mind while traveling.

Chefs

When there is camping included in your tour through Ethiopia you will meet one of our chefs. He or she will take care of your meals in the camp. During camping we always offer full board, and all the meals are included in the tour price. You will be amazed about the quality and variety of meals they are able to prepare with very limited means. Often guests would like to use their services during the whole tour.

Local guides

Local guides are not employed by us but are important for the success of your tour. They are well informed about ‘their’ area and will also be available if you travel with a professional guide from Addis Ababa. Because of their additional knowledge and to encourage local employment. There is much difference in quality between the local guides and their level of English, but in our philosophy, they need the chance to develop. The local guides at the traditional historical sites are much better than at other places. In the south, the local guide is not known for that long. Especially here they are important to give you proper insight into information about local culture and crossing the language barrier. We always take them along on our tours.
